This or That: Home Offices

Seeing as how I’ve been working like a mad woman lately, I can’t help but gravitate towards chic office spaces. These two examples could not be more different from one another, yet they are both so beautiful and stylish.

The office above, with its glamorous furnishings and rich color palette was featured in Lonny last year and belongs to Nate Berkus Associates’ talented, Lauren Gold. Every piece in the room is special and has a story. The use of color and the chic accessories are so spot on. This space would really get one’s creative juices flowing!

This office is from a real estate listing in suburban Houston that I came across earlier this week. The built-ins, woodwork, and marble desktop are stunning! I love how light, bright, and relaxed the space is. It’s elegant and would inspire me to be very organized.

Both spaces are gorgeous in their own ways. Which would you rather have?

No. 1 by a long shot! Not that there's anything wrong with No. 2, but I adore deeply saturated offices!

well, i think it's obvious which one i would choose given my dream home post :) but i do sometimes wonder if the office isn't the one place that i would be willing to go white with. there is something about the idea of a clean palette where your ideas are born....

I love the look of the first dark, moody space in the image.
And yet when it comes to real organization and functionality, I'd probably have to go with the Bella Casa space. It's so bright and airy and I wouldn't have to worry too much about spilling my coffee on that marble countertop.
Cheers, Alcira

I considered these very two photos as inspiration before embarking on my office reno!

For effect, I'd choose 1. I like moody interiors.

For real-everyday-life, I chose #2. I needed light and airy so I didnt get sleepy. I even DID light and airy and still thought the putty gray on the walls was too sleepy, so I had to put in a serious chandelier with hardcore lighting to keep my eyeballs open :)

Love both, good work!

Both please. I'm an accountant-type by day and would love #1. That teal is amazing. By night, I'm a papercrafter and drawn to the white space in #2.

#1 for me- LOVE the glamour!!!

Nº1 to show
nº2 to work!
So, I´ll think I´ll go with 2 because it is more confortable and spacious to work in.

Definitely the first one! Why not go all out!

Hi there,
I think I love office #1. I like the cozy, executive feel that the look offers. It's kinda an upscale look. Wow! I am still trying to get that look for my home in general, but it's a never ending job. Thanks for sharing!

Love office #2. Right now my "office" consists of a tiny fold out table in our bedroom. These are definitely wish list! xo, Claudia

It's too hard for me to choose. They are both right up my alley! If the rest of the Houston house looks anything like the home office I would love to see it. Could you provide a link to it?

The dark, dramatic office is more interesting. But the white office will be much more forgiving of stacks of paper/clutter so it's much more practical. You couldn't just toss those tote bags down on the floor in the dark one.

I like #2. :-)

Oh it's SO tough. #1 is just beautiful and has such a wow-glamour factor. But in practice, if I had to work in a space day in a day out, I might appreciate the light airiness of #2 more.

Paloma, you should share with us which one YOU'D pick! :)

no. 1 for the front of the house
no. 2 off the kitchen
Is it too much to want both?

I love the idea of No.2. A fresh white clean slate would be perfect for coming up with new ideas. Plus with a few pops of colour like the orange and pink, it still has a creative element.

Office no 2! Love the color white :)

#1 is gorgeous, but I'd get so much more done in #2! Tons of natural light is a must for my office space!
